Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE MY EYEBROW PROCEDURE?

If you have an ideal shape and colour in mind, DO bring a few reference photos with you to your appointment.

DO fill in your eyebrows as you normally would if you are particular or nervous so we can take into consideration the shape you desire.

If you plan to go on a vacation, it is recommended that you DON’T take a trip in the sun a minimum of 14 days after the procedure.

We DO require our clients to avoid any blood thinning medication for a minimum of 72 hours prior to their appointment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, fish oil supplements, and Ibuprofen.

DON’T drink any alcohol or caffeine the night before and day of your appointment.

If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least one year before considering this procedure.

It is highly recommended that you avoid SUN and TANNING BED exposure for 30 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. If you show up for your appointment with a new tan or a sunburn, you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your deposit. As your skin exfoliates from a sunburn, it will take the pigment with it.

Please head over to our FAQ section for a list of those who wouldn’t be considered an ideal candidate for Microblading.

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading is becoming an incredibly popular semi-permanent brow procedure, due to the detailed and realistic results that it can offer. During the procedure, pigment is implanted in the basal membrane with a disposable hand tool which resembles a pen with tiny needles on the end.

This Microblading procedure is an excellent option for:

Those who want to refine/adjust their brow shape

Have over-plucked their brows and/or have areas that won’t grow

Those who may have Alopecia or have undergone chemotherapy

The purpose of Microblading is to gently enhance your own naturally beautiful features and create a customized look that suits you!

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE CONSULTATION?

Your Babe Boutique artist will work with you to design a brow that best suits your face shape, skin type, and personal style.  The artist will then draw the brow design in pencil to give you an idea of the shape and form.

An important thing to remember is that we do our best to take your requests into consideration but also gives you the perfect shape based on your own personal measurements and bone structure. Please keep in mind that no face is perfectly symmetrical and that brows are like sisters not twins!

MICROBLADING…. DOES MICROBLADING HURT?

We use a highly-effective, topical anesthetic cream for numbing before and during your procedure, to ensure you remain as comfortable as possible. Pain threshold levels vary from person to person and every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable.

WILL MICROBLADING WORK FOR ME?

If you have any of the following skin conditions, Microblading will likely NOT be a good choice for you:

    Excessive sebum (oily skin)

    Severe acne

    Moles in the treatment area

    Keratosis

    Very dry skin

    Bleeding Disorder

    Diabetes (without doctors note)

If you are undergoing or have undergone Chemo in the last 6 months

If you are on blood thinners

If you are prone to Keloid Scaring

    If you are Pregnant

    If you are Breast Feeding

If you have Psoriasis in the treatment area

Healed results will vary with each individual client and using a pencil or powder may still be needed.  We have no control over how an individuals healing process may occur and therefore make NO attempt or claim that you will reach optimal results in just 1-2 treatments. Although many clients experience amazing results in the recommended 1-2 appointments others may need to come back for a third (sometimes more if it is a cover up over another artists work) and this would be done and charged for accordingly.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have had your eyebrows previously tattooed and are interested in a cover-up/re-work, you MUST email a clear photo PRIOR to booking your appointment. We cannot guarantee results for cases such as these and we must approve that your eyebrows are workable. In some cases where the previous work is too dark, dense, discolored, or large, tattoo removal will be highly recommended before we begin the cover-up/re-work. Previously tattooed areas and cover-ups will almost always require additional appointments for best results and will be charged accordingly.

Additionally, if you are iron deficient or Anemic, the pigment will fade sooner and bleeding/bruising may occur during and after the procedure.

HOW LONG DOES MICROBLADING LAST?

Microblading is considered semi-permanent and will not wash off, however, they will fade over time and typically last between eight months to two years. To get your best result possible you must follow the aftercare guide precisely and also understand that everyones body metabolizes the ink differently breaking it down at different rates. Results really do vary.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?

Two treatments are usually needed, the initial session and then the follow up 4-6 weeks later. With most sessions, the colour looks dramatically lighter after the first week. During the second treatment, we will assess the colour retention and make adjustments as necessary. You will not see your fully healed result until 8-10 weeks after your second treatment.

HOW WILL I LOOK IMMEDIATELY AFTER? WHAT IS THE HEALING PROCESS?

Your eyebrows will appear darker and more intense than expected for the first few days. This will gradually lighten during the complete healing process. Redness and swelling is minimal. Please view our detailed aftercare instructions here.

WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

You will be provided with a printed aftercare instruction card at the time of your appointment.

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO HAVE MICROBLADING DONE?

You must be 18 years or older to undergo Microblading at the Babe Boutique.

CAN I HAVE MICROBLADING DONE IF I AM PREGNANT OR NURSING?

As a precaution, we do not perform Microblading or Micropigmentation on pregnant or nursing women.

AFTERCARE

How you treat your beautiful new brows for the 10-14 days after your initial and touch up appointments will ultimately determine their final appearance and longevity. Please follow these instructions carefully for best results:

For the remainder of your appointment day you must wash Lymph fluid from brow area every 30 minutes with a clean dampened cotton pad. Make sure to disinfect your hands prior to avoid infection. Apply aftercare balm the evening of your appointment and then morning and evening continuing for the following 10-14 days or until fully healed. Before you apply the aftercare balm please rinse/clean each brow by gently dabbing a slightly dampened clean cotton pad to clean the tattoo area. Allow the area to dry for 1-2 minutes before applying the very small amount of aftercare balm. Special instructions might be given by your artist dependent on your skin type.

Flaking and crusting may occur as the skin heals. Picking or peeling at the procedure area may cause loss of pigment and scarring so refrain from touching your brows except when applying aftercare balm. Please wash your hands prior to each application. Washing your eyebrows for the first day every 30 minutes to remove lymph fluid will help cut down on the scabbing and could allow for better color retention.

Please note that some pigment may rub off, so take precautions to protect good linens and towels. The pigment will be a few shades darker for the first few days while your brows heal. Please avoid using brow makeup during the initial healing time. They will lighten 40-60% and shrink 15% from initial appearance.

Pools, Jacuzzis, tanning, excess sweating, facials, Botox, and saunas should be avoided for at least 10 days after the procedure, or until the procedure area is fully healed. Skin creams and products containing Retin-A, AHA or any kind of skin peel may not be used, as they will fade and possibly distort the procedure area.

Sun block should always be applied (SPF 60 recommended), and a hat/sunglasses should be worn for the first few days if sun exposure is longer than 30 minutes.
